Released theatrically in 1999, The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland brought one of Sesame Street's most recognizable characters to the big screen in a colorful family adventure produced by Jim Henson Pictures and Children's Television Workshop.

After Elmo's beloved blue blanket is lost, he follows it into Grouchland, where he encounters a world populated by grouches, unusual characters and the villainous Huxley. The film was directed by Gary Halvorson and features Kevin Clash as Elmo, along with Mandy Patinkin, Vanessa Williams and a large cast of familiar Sesame Street performers and characters. The U.S. theatrical release was October 1, 1999.
