This is an original theatrical movie poster from the U.S. release campaign for Slow Burn, the crime thriller starring Ray Liotta, LL Cool J, Mekhi Phifer, Taye Diggs and Jolene Blalock.

The artwork is one of the strongest aspects of this campaign: a single burning match forms the visual centerpiece, with the principal characters emerging from the flame against an almost completely black background. The minimalist composition gives the poster a striking neo-noir appearance and prominently features the film's tagline:

“THE TRUTH IS JUST A TRICK OF LIGHT.”

Although Slow Burn was completed earlier and premiered at the 2005 Toronto International Film Festival, Lionsgate did not give the film its U.S. theatrical release until April 13, 2007.

Important year clarification

For this specific poster, I would use 2007 in the Shopify/eBay title — not 2005.

We have unusually strong documentation for that determination: the new Slow Burn one-sheet campaign was publicly unveiled on February 22, 2007, immediately ahead of its April theatrical release.

That matters because there are sellers currently calling original examples “Slow Burn 2005”, but that is using the film's earlier production/premiere year rather than the poster release year.

For your cataloging standard, 2007 is the correct title year.

CONDITION

VERY GOOD+ / EXCELLENT DISPLAY CONDITION

Looking closely at your photographs, I would be slightly more conservative on this one than some of the cleaner posters in the recent batches.

The poster presents extremely well overall, with:

• No fold lines
• No visible pinholes
• Strong black background
• Excellent flame colors
• Clean, sharp printing
• No major paper loss
• No major tears
• Minor surface scuffing / light scratches, most noticeable because of the solid black background
• Minor handling impressions/dings
• Some light edge wear
• Small areas of wear along the left edge
• Minor waviness/curling consistent with rolled storage
• A small handling crease/mark visible toward the lower portion

The defects are much more obvious in your close-up photographs and under direct lighting than they are in the full-poster image.

I would therefore sell it as:

Very Good+ to Excellent vintage theatrical condition with minor handling and surface wear.

I would not call it Near Mint.

The metal pieces visible in the photographs are magnets used only to hold the poster flat during photography and do not puncture the poster.
