This is an authentic original 2006 U.S. theatrical movie poster for Shawn Levy's blockbuster family adventure Night at the Museum. The movie opened in the United States on December 22, 2006, starring Ben Stiller as Larry Daley alongside Robin Williams, Dick Van Dyke, Carla Gugino, Mickey Rooney and Bill Cobbs.

More importantly from a collector standpoint, this is not simply the common home-video artwork. This exact design is documented by a specialist original-poster dealer as an original 2006 U.S. teaser one-sheet, measuring 27" x 40", never folded and double-sided. The campaign is commonly identified as the Christmas advance/teaser design.

The small “VERSION A” designation is also visible at the lower-left edge of your actual poster.

The artwork is one of the strongest designs from the original film's campaign. Ben Stiller's Larry Daley is shown from behind walking deeper into the museum, surrounded by the exhibits that come alive at night: the enormous T-Rex skeleton, Dexter the monkey, Teddy Roosevelt, Sacagawea, a lion, miniature cowboys and soldiers, and other museum characters.

Unlike a traditional cast-headshot poster, this artwork tells the entire premise of the movie visually. It also carries the simple “CHRISTMAS” release treatment rather than a full theatrical date, giving it the stronger feel of an advance campaign poster.

For collectors of Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, family films, 2000s cinema, dinosaur memorabilia and the Night at the Museum franchise, I think this is considerably more collectible than its generic movie title might initially suggest.

CONDITION

VERY GOOD+ TO EXCELLENT DISPLAY CONDITION – ROLLED / NEVER FOLDED

Overall, this is a very attractive display copy, although I would be slightly more conservative on the condition than I was with the Barbershop 2 poster.

From the detailed photographs, I see:

  • Strong overall presentation
  • No visible fold lines
  • No visible pinholes
  • No visible tape residue
  • Excellent central artwork
  • Strong color, blacks and warm gold tones
  • Clean title area
  • Clean lower studio/logo area
  • Minor natural waviness from rolled storage
  • Some light edge rubbing/scuffing along the right border
  • A few small superficial handling marks/scratches, particularly visible in darker areas
  • Very minor age/storage wear along portions of the edges
  • No major tears visible
  • No major creasing
  • No major image loss
  • No damage that materially detracts from framed display

The right edge is the main reason I would stop short of calling this Near Mint.

I would describe it to the customer this way:

This authentic original 2006 theatrical poster has been stored rolled and has never been folded. It presents extremely well, with rich color, clean central artwork and no visible pinholes or fold lines. There is some minor edge and handling wear, including light rubbing/scuffing along portions of the border and a few small superficial marks consistent with age and storage. There are no major tears, creases or distracting defects visible. Please review all photographs carefully, as they show the exact poster you will receive and form an important part of the condition description.

The silver pieces visible in the photographs are magnets used only to hold the poster flat while photographing it. They do not puncture the poster.
